The FCBA was well represented at the summer meeting of the NCSBA in Pinehurst, NC, July 10-12, 2008. NCSBA Treasurer Paul Madren awarded Brady and Mary Mullinax the McIver-Haus Award for more than 30 years of service to the state association. Dr. Buddy Marterre became 2nd Vice President of the NCSBA for 2009. Dr. Marterre received a blue ribbon for his photography. Elaine Styers also won several ribbons and lead a workshop.

Lewisville - Mr. Barry Colin Sheets, 59, of Lewisville passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mr. Sheets was born in Forsyth County to Clarence W. and Margie Moser Sheets on Feb. 1, 1949. He was a member of South Fork Church of Christ and served in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Sheets was a computer network administrator for Wake Forest Physicians. He will be remembered as a man with a multitude of talents and interests. A gathering to honor his life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at South Fork Church of Christ, with Dr. Bill Allen officiating. About 30,000 honey bees invaded Winston-Salem State University. Friday (August 3, 2007), the colony was hanging about 40 feet off the ground outside the Gaines Athletic Complex. With the help of some of his colleagues, local bee expert Dr. Buddy Marterre used a special contraption to relocate the bees to a new hive.

On July 13, 2007, at the summer meeting of the NCSBA in Kinston, NC, the FCBA won "Chapter of the Year 2006" for earning the Golden Achievement Award. Several members were present to receive the award, including Ms. Amber Shew, chairperson of our club's Golden Achievement Committee and Mr. Brady Mullinax, Sr., our chapter's founder.
